The Goats now come together again on the 150th anniversary of the cruel evictions from Derryveagh by John George Adair. Good Luck, David and Michael Dara :-
Best wishes for success are extended to David Campbell and Michael Dara Macauley in their respective Leinster Finals in Croke Park on this coming Sun., 10th July. David scored 0-2 from the centre half-forward position for the Dubln Minor footballers in the Leinster semi-final v. Kildare in Parnell Park on Wed. night of last week, 29th June. The Leinster Final v. Meath will be a very proud occasion for himself and his proud parents, Hugh and Ann. They will be watching with more than a passive interest in both Burtonport and Annagry on this coming Sun. The Minor semi-final win over Kildare meant that it was a double over Kildare in the Leinster Minor and Sen. semi-finals. The Minors will now be hoping to emulate the feat of the Minor hurlers against Kilkenny in their Leinster Final last Sun.
Maggie and that true navy blue Dubs' fan, Ciaran, and all the Dubs' fans here also send best wishes to midfielder, Michael Dara Macauley, in the Sen. Final v. Wexford. Michael Dara has got strong Leitir connections and so, there will be very big interest in the Sen. Final in that particular neck of the Rosses' woods.

The Late Nuala Gorevan ( FA ) :-
Very deeply regretted was the recent death of the late Nuala Gorevan , late of the Quay Rd, Dungloe. Into her 95th year, she was 94 at the time of her death. She hailed from Lettercaugh originally and she was best known in the Hills' area as Fanny John Khit Mc Connell. She was a sister of the very well-known, the late Willie Mc Connell. A lovely lady, she was an avid reader and spent her life reading books. She enjoyed the simple things in life, especially reading books, and she was always happy and content with a book in her hands. She was also very fond of gardening and sport in general. She played camogie herself when attending the St Louis Convent in Monaghan. She loved snooker and football and hurling especially. She had been in failing health for the past while and spent some time as a patient in the Community Hospital, Gweedore Rd, Dungloe, where she died. Living in Dungloe for the past while, she was better known and affectionately known to all here simply as FA. Many people attended the wake in the family home on the Quay Rd to pay their last respects to FA, and to sympathise with her sorrowing sister. Kathleen, nieces and nephews and extended family. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated by Fr Seamus Meehan, P.P., in St Crona's Church, Chapel Rd. The soloists at the Mass were Lisa Philbin, Cronashallog, and Gearoidin Bhreathnach, Ardveen ( Teresa ), a niece of deceased. Lisa's opening hymn was " Queen of the May ".At the start of the Mass Fr Meehan sympathised with FA's 2sisters, Kathleen and Annie, who was unable to be present. and with her nieces and nephews and extended family. He said that FA had enjoyed a good, long life, right into her 95th year. He described her as a happy, gentle and kind soul, whose gentleness and kindness would be long remembered. The gifts were carried to the priest at the altar at the Offertory of the Mass by Aisling Diver and Eoghan Diver, with other members of the extended family reading the Lessons and the Prayers of the Faithful. During the reading of the Prayers of the Faithful, special mention was made of FA's goodness and the great blessings bestowed upon her in life, which she herself passed on as well. Gearoidin sang " A Mhuire na nGrast " as the Responsorial Psalm, while Lisa sang the Alleluia verse as the Gospel Acclamation. Her Offertory hymn was " Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling ", while she also sang " Shalom " during the exchange of the Gift and Sign of Peace . During the distribution of Holy Communion Gearoidin sang " Unconditional Love ". Lisa sang " Totus Tuus " and her recessionary hymn was " Nearer, my God, to Thee ". Interment took place in the family plot beside her late husband, Tom, immesiately after the Funeral Mass ,with Fr Meehan once again officiating and conducting the graveside obsequies.FA was predeceased by her late husband, Tom Gorevan. She is survived by her 2 sisters, Kathleen Gallagher, Carlisle, and Annie, in Pomeroy, Co. Tyrone, brother-in-law, Paddy ( Packie ) Charlie Oig Gallagher ( Kathleen ), carlisle, numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and in-laws, and many friends, neighbours and acquaintances, to whom the deepest, heartfelt sympathy of the whole community is extended. May her gentle soul rest in peace.
